Sky Television

There are seven million subscribers who delight in Sky Television in their multitude of services: there is all you want from cultural events and entertainment shows, movies and interactive opportunities, to news, sports and fantastic documentaries at a high video and sound quality. Sky Television was founded as a four channel network in 1989 by Rupert Murdoch, but it merged with its competitor British Satellite Broadcasting in 1990 and it became British Sky Broadcasting. The reason for the merge was the financial distress of both corporations, but loss remained with them for a while after uniting their forces too. The management reorientation and the introduction of the subscription system allowed for the gradual recovery of the losses and even the making of profit in the following years. The new Sky Television turned into a success.

Sky Television is the largest subscription-based TV service provider in the UK that broadcasts for around ten million of British and Irish homes. Sky Television is spread all over the UK, and although most of the services are concentrated in Livingstone and Dunfermline, Scotland, the headquarters remain in London and the uplink for the satellite at Southampton. Changes came over the years with modifications not only of the departments but of the packages offered to the consumers too.

The user gets access to the channels broadcast by Sky Television by means of the Sky digibox that could have a personal video recorder built in. Ratings indicate that this complex set allows one enough freedom as when having a personal channel at one’s disposal. It was with the introduction of the interactive TV services that Sky Tv gained even more popularity, thus viewers could even choose what cameras to watch through during sports events for instance. Besides the subscription-based services, Sky Television also broadcasts around 160 free to access radio and TV channels via satellite.

The For standard packages, a Sky Television subscriber has to pay somewhere between £16 and £21 per month without any of the premium channels included. The variation results from the program combinations the users select. Superior options have Sky World with Sky Sports and Sky Movies included, but such a Sky Television package costs £45. As for the technical requirements, they are basic: the satellite system should point in a certain direction that the satellite technician will take care of, and the system should include a Sky box with an active viewing card. For the payment terms, you simply need to have a credit card, preferably Eurocard, Visa or Mastercard.
