How Will The Publishing World Accommodate E-Books?

Amazon’s clearly stated policy of setting the price of Kindle books at $ 9.99 or lower has resulted in some tough negotiations with the major publishing houses. Recently, this even led to the brief removal of books by the publishing house McMillan from the Amazon website. McMillan books are now being sold on the Amazon site, and they may have managed to secure more favourable pricing for their books - in the small term at least - but the large publishing houses need to take care.

Is A New Version Of The Kindle Likely Anytime Soon?

There has been a lot of speculation as to when Amazon will release the next update of its hugely successful Kindle reader. The Kindle 2 launched in February of 2009, a year and 3 months after the release of the original Kindle in November 2007. If the gap between upgrades was to be maintained, then the Kindle 2 which is now small more than a year ancient, should be due for an update in the honestly near future.

Buying An eBook Reader

For nearly twenty years, the perfect portable ebook reading hardware has been 5 years away. We are now at the stage where we wait for a cheap enough, lower power enough paper-quality show with long battery life.

Once we have cheap and affordable ebooks, the medium by which we read will also be the medium by which can write and respond. Reading will eventually become a social act eventually. You can see this happening already with the blogs and online likes.
